Richard Clark is known for his many publications and important contributions in medical science. He is considered an expert in chemicals such as cyclotides and conotoxins. He is also able to determine the effects of this chemical to the body. In one of his studies he was able to discuss the effects of cyclization on structure, stability and activity of conotoxin. The α-Conotoxin RgIA specifically is the lead element in the development of the neuropathic pain drugs. He was able to discuss the possible generic problems that might develop if the drug has a low stability. The best solution they took includes improving the properties of the conotoxin through backbone cyclization with the help of 3 to 7 residue of peptidic linkers. This method showed a lot of significant development in the therapeutic properties of the conotoxin.
